Fried pickles are one of the best fried foods if you ask me. Youll probably get the same answer from a lot of people. It’s a quick appetizer or snack and easy to make. These can be made in a deep fryer or even on oil on the stove.
At my house, we like to make them by slicing pickles into thick slices and then dipping in the batter.
Heat oil to 375 degrees in a deep fryer or in a pan on the stove. If you cook on the stove, use a pan with high edges so less splatters on you when cooking. A good portion for an appetizer is 3 medium sized pickles. Slice pickles and lightly pat dry with a paper towel.
Pour some white flour into a shallow dish or bowl. Mix together 2 eggs, 1.5 cups flour, a few dashes black pepper and 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper. Stir the flour into the other ingredients.
Dip pickles in batter and let excess drip off. If using a deep fryer, be sure to shake the basket dipped into the oil a bit to prevent sticking as you add the pickles. Cook 5 mins or so until golden brown. Let cool and serve!
